Day Description
Day 1 Arrive Paro.
Day 2 Paro to Thimphu
Day 3 Sightseeing in Thimphu.
Day 4 Thimphu to Bumthang
Day 5 Sightseeing in Bumthang.
Day 6 TREK DAY 1.Bumthang to NgangLhakhang. The route takes you across the Chamkharriver and continues past ThangbiLhakhang, a temple built by the first Karma Shamar in the 13th century and enters into NgangYul, the ‘Swan Land’, home to the NgangLhakhang. The camp is near the Lhakhang at an altitude of 2800 m. (20 km, 6 to 7 hours)
Day 7 TREK DAY 2.NgangLhakhang to Ugyenchholing. The trail begins with a gradual climb to Phephe La Pass (3353 m). Today we walk through one of the most beautiful forested areas of this region. Our camp is at an altitude of 2850 m.
Day 8 TREK DAY 3. Ugyenchholing to Phokphey. The walk continues through bamboos, hemlock and alpine forest. Camp is at 3600 m. (17 km, 5 to 6 hours)
Day 9 TREK DAY 4.Phokphey to Ungaar. We continue to climb for half an hour until the Rodong La Pass (3800 m). A descent through the gorge follows, with vistas of mountain valleys. (20 km, 6 to 7 hours)
Day 10 TREK DAY 5.Ungaar to Taskila. The path winds up and down until we reach Dru La village and KhaineLhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, said to have been built in the mid-7th century by Tibetan King SongtsenGampo in order to subdue demons. (21 km, 7 to 8 hours)
Day 11 TREK DAY 6.TaskiLatoLhuntse. Walk to Lhuntse in time for lunch, visit LhuntseDzong after which we rest for the remainder of the day.
Day 12 TREK DAY 7.Lhuntse to Menji. After reaching KuriZampa the path climbs gradually through paddy fields and villages. (12 km, 4 to 5 hours)
Day 13 TREK DAY 8.Menji to Pemi. The trail continues uphill through dense forests overlooking mountain ranges. The camp is in the forest shelter (2400 m). (20 km, 6 to 7 hours)
Day 14 TREK DAY 9.Pemi to Taupang. Continue upwards to Dong La from where there are impressive mountain vistas. Descend through thick evergreen forests towards the campsite. (21 km, 6 to 7 hours)
Day 15 TREK DAY 10. Taupang to TashiYangtse. This is the longest day of the trek, beginning with a downhill stretch to Yangtse through chir pine and hardwood forests. (24 km, 8 to 9 hours)
Day 16 Rest day in TashiYangtse.
Day 17 TashiYangtse to Mongar (via Tashigang).
Day 18 Mongar to Bumthang.
Day 19 Bumthang to Wangdi.
Day 20 Wangdi to Paro.
Day 21 Depart
